Swedish- a light general body massage using the hands in different motions to increase circulation and lymph flow. Typical use is for relaxation.

Deep Tissue- a full body or focused type of massage incorporating Swedish techniques and use of deeper pressure using the hands, forearms, and elbows to reach muscle tissue not reached by typical Swedish massage and promote increased circulation and decreased overall muscular tension in the body. Typical use is for relaxation and injury rehabilitation.

Neuromuscular Therapy- a style of massage focusing on points inside the muscles that cause localized pain and referred pain and the release of these points. This is a compression based therapy used for chronic pain, injuries, and rehabilitation purposes.

Kelly is available to provide the following techniques based on need or by request:

Swedish- a light general body massage using the hands in different motions to increase circulation and lymph flow. Typical use is for relaxation.

Deep Tissue- a full body or focused type of massage incorporating Swedish techniques and use of deeper pressure using the hands, forearms, and elbows to reach muscle tissue not reached by typical Swedish massage and promote increased circulation and decreased overall muscular tension in the body. Typical use is for relaxation and injury rehabilitation.

Sports massage- a style of massage designed to be incorporated into an athlete’s training regiment, as use before and after an event or as maintenance during training or competition seasons. This type of massage incorporates range of motion movements, stretching, cramp removal, and increased circulation to muscles being used or just used in an event. Typical use is to assist warm-up, assist cool-down, and remove cramps during activity, and increase flexibility and circulation for entire performance period of the athlete.

Russian Sports massage- same style as sports massage with less focus on range of motion and more on injury rehabilitation and lymphatic flow using a set progression of techniques over the injured area or full body. Uses of massage are to decrease swelling around an injury, increase lymph flow to accelerate healing process. Some techniques are used for break-down of scar tissue, realignment of scar tissue to decrease appearance of scar, and decreasing appearance of stretch marks.

Structural Bodywork & Myokinetics- a very deep style of massage used for chronic holding patterns due to sports injuries, vehicle crashes, and altered posture. This style of massage can be quite painful but is extremely effective with immediate noticeable change. This massage assists in lengthening the Fascia, or encasement around the muscles, to adjust to posture to stop an injury pattern or structural deviation, such as scoliosis. Reasons for use are chronic pain, structural deviations, difficult movement patterns, and increasing athletic performance.

Injury massage- a focused style of massage on certain areas of the body using set protocols to reverse the effect of injury or any muscular trauma; such as stress, computer posture, over lifting, and spasmed muscles. This style of massage used at the depth between deep tissue massage and structural body work. Typical uses are sports injuries, chronic or sudden pain, prolonged or overuse injuries, and increased performance in sports or daily living activities.

Trigger Point Therapy- a style of massage focusing on points inside the muscles that cause localized pain and referred pain and the release of these points. This is a compression based therapy used for chronic pain, injuries, and rehabilitation purposes.

Shiatsu & Acupressure- Both of these types of massage are Eastern based and focused on the energy running thru the body. Shiatsu incorporates range of motion movements and has an effect on helping to calm or ground the mind. Use of this massage style is beneficial for reducing vertigo, balance issues, muscular tension, and difficulties focusing. Acupressure is a light point holding style of massage that can be incorporated into any style of massage to help with digestive issues, difficulties focusing, menstrual cramps, muscular tension and headaches.

Cranial-Sacral Therapy- a light non-invasive modality using light pressure to influence movement of the bones of the skull. This style of massage may be light but is extremely effective with headaches; inclusive of Migraines, cluster headaches, sinus and tension headaches.

Reflexology- a style of massage used on the ears, hands and feet to affect the entire body. This style of massage can be used when other styles of massage cannot be used on a certain area; such as broken bones, burns, skin abnormalities, or for specific dysfunctions. Use of this modality can increase function of internal organs and muscular systems.

 Erich Stroheim

Erich Stroheim, RMT

Education:   Oriental Massage Program, Shiatsu, Acupressure - Heartwood Institute, Garberville, CA: Swedish and Reichian Massage - Pomona College, Claremont, CA

Why massage Therapy?  It is an effective way to relax tight muscles, relieve various types of stress, and promote general healing.

When clients come to me, they should expect...  Relaxation, relief from muscle tension or stress, and restored energy.

Hobbies:  Swimming, running, hiking, chi-gung, tai-chi chuan, international folk dancing.

Erich is available to provide the following techniques based on need or by request:

Shiatsu / Acupressure- Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure" in Japanese and it uses pressure points along the acupuncture channels (called meridians) to relax the body and improve energy flow throughout the system.

Reflexology- uses pressure points in the feet, hands, and ears to relax, balance, and improve the function of internal organs.

Neo-Reichian- uses gentle moving pressure to dissolve "holding patterns" also called "body armoring" ( or sometimes simply "knots").

Swedish- a general body massage style using various hand motions to soothe muscles, increase circulation, and stimulate lymph flow ... typically used for relaxation.

Trigger Point- a trigger point forms as a local contraction in a small number of muscle fibers appearing as a "knot" within a muscle bundle. Carefully applied pressure and palpation can remove these tensions and provide relief for the surrounding joints and tendons as well.

Deep Tissue- used selectively to unlock painful areas of muscle or scar tissue embedded in the deeper sup-surface muscle fibers.
